We Are Achieving RIBA 2030 Targets
February 05th 2025

Anderson Bell + Christie designed homes currently exceed industry embodied carbon targets for 2030, achieving an average of 541kgCO2e/m² across lifecycle stages A (material creation), B (use), and C (end of life). Our designs outperform the @riba 2030 targets by 14%.
However, the research highlights a need for industry-wide change. A hypothetical development of 100 new homes to AB+C’s standard would generate 4,399 tonnes of embodied carbon, far surpassing the 258 tonnes of operational carbon created over 60 years.
With only 20 years until the 2045 net-zero target, ABC are working on a roadmap for reducing embodied carbon.
We will be presenting this to The Scottish Government in early 2025, calling for stronger legislation and industry leadership to create a comprehensive plan to address the embodied carbon challenge.
