GIA Awards
November 07th 2016
We are delighted that two of our projects have been commended at this years GIA Awards.
Our Fernan Street project was described by the judges as "A very good example of social housing, place making & regeneration" which makes "use of a very tight budget in the places that really matter". They also noted that "the project was designed very carefully to provide a protected shared courtyard space that would encourage all the inhabitants to socialise more, and in that respect it works beautifully, this is a happy community and that is in no small part due to the well-considered layout, detailing and extensive use of a lively brick that colour matches with adjoining building materials.
Lennoxtown Community Hub, which is also a regional finalist in the upcoming Civic Trust awards, was noted as a building which "comprises of a multiplicity of uses, simply and elegantly under one roof" which is "well detailed and well proportioned" and "conveys quality and simplicity" which is "not an easy combination to achieve."
