The Housing and Social Care Forum
October 04th 2024
Last Thursday, Rowena, Caroline and Alasdair from the ab+c team took part in The Housing and Social Care Accessibility Summit at the V&A Museum in Dundee.
The summit brought together accessible housing experts, including local and national government, housing associations, designers, contractors, and academics, to tackle some of the pressing challenges in accessible housing across Scotland.
The presentations and discussions focused on the current challenges and possible solutions to accessible housing design. Challenges discussed included allocation waiting lists, aging population, rural vs city access to accessible housing, education and care requirements.
Rowena chaired the design panel and shared insights on some of ab+c’s accessible housing projects - highlighting Gannochy Lifetime Neighbourhood and Creveul Court - alongside speakers from Campion Homes, Stirling University, and Invisible Creations.
ab+c were asked by Horizon Housing to visually document the discussions. Alasdair did a fantastic job creating sketches that beautifully captured the key points raised throughout the day.
It was an inspiring and optimistic event, with everyone united in moving accessible housing forward.
Thanks to all who made it a great day!
