Architecture Offices Great Western Road

Our offices are located in an old bakery on the ground and basement floor of a tenement building which is located in Glasgow's West End. The property was derelict for about eight years before we moved in.

We felt the existing premises, a shop front under a tenement, and a two storey bakery at the rear, had a great deal of potential. They represented an opportunity to intervene in the existing structure to create new links and volumes, and to use our imagination to show that a limited budget does not inhibit good design.

We worked with the artists, Scott Associates, to our interiors which included metalwork (stairs and balustrades) and furniture (shelving and tables).

Finishes have been left deliberately hard, with exposed stone walls, glazed brickwork and bare concrete floors. As a contrast we have picked out our new work in strong colours; these create focus and life within the spaces.
