This new build development is located a short walk from Glasgow city centre on a brownfield site surrounded by a mix of shops, tenements and historic buildings. There are 46 new two- and three-bedroom flats built in two blocks, and one commercial unit.
The site stretches up over a steep slope from Duke Street to High Street. The height of the building and the cross-fall presented a major challenge and meant that careful consideration was needed in the design of the external spaces.
The building respects and works with the adjacent tenements and provides a stop end on Duke Street that addresses the scale of the adjacent high rise.
On High Street, it works with the tenements, and the 6 storey building addresses the scale of the adjoining building, provides a view to the Cathedral and creates new public space at the ground level.
Award: Scottish Property Awards: City Regeneration Project of the Year, Winner.
