For a number of years we have facilitated yearly design competitions – Designing Places - with the Scottish Government for built environment students from across Scotland, studying courses in architecture, landscape architecture, urban design, environmental management, real estate and planning. They attend a one-day live masterplanning workshop where they work together to collaboratively design masterplans for real development sites.
Drawing Places has been established by the Scottish Government as a way of teaching built environment students and professionals basic drawing skills. We helped them to develop ‘hands-on’ workshops which were specifically designed to maximise learning. The aim is for delegates to be inspired and leave feeling confident at being able to draw simply and to visualise places. The workshops bring planners back-to-basics in understanding ‘place’ through becoming more visually, and graphically, confident.
